Barbie Cake for Priscila Assa

More order from Mr Assa in Australia. This time the grandpa sent a beautiful barbie cake for his grand daughter's 8th birthday, Priscila Assa.



Base cake that I used for the skirt is moist chocolate butter cake, fully covered with fondant.

Barbie Cake for Kezia

This was the second time Lisa Sapulette Dobrik ordered birthday cake for her lovely daughter Kezia. The theme this year is Barbie.



As Kezia doesn't like chocolate cake, I made her cheese butter cake with cream cheese and lemon. Decorating using full fondant or plastic icing.

Order from the US for the love ones in Jakarta. It has been a while I didn't make any barbie cake. So when I received this order, it was kind of refreshing my skill hehehe...



Chocolate butter cake as the base cake, covered with fully fondant.

Barbie Cake for Maudy

What a nice surprise knowing that some body from Cayman Island has found my blog and put an order of barbie doll cake. It's mbak Wiwi who lives and working in Cayman Island. I know about Cayman Island only from the movie so it's nice to know mbak Wiwi. From mbak Wiwi I am getting to know more about Cayman Island :-)



For the base cake, I made triple chocolate cake and chocolate butter cake for the barbie skirt. All in pink and fondant icing. Mbak Wiwi sent me some pictures of barbie doll cake designs and asked me to combine the design. So I came up with this...I would say I like the combination of pink color, don't you think they are pretty?



I took picture the details of the back side of the barbie gown as mbak Wiwi likes the butterfly design a lot.



Thank you very much mbak Wiwi...glad to know that the family in Kebayoran loves the barbie cake.

(suppose to be) Barbie Mariposa for Chacha

It was a nice surprise to receive a call from mbak Tuti Magdalena. It's been 2 years Mbak Tuti becoming Joris' Kitchen customer. After checking my posting about Barbie Mariposa for Caca, mbak Tuti ordered the similar one for her daughter that has same name as Devi's nama. Chacha...pronounce the same with Caca but different spelling.



The difference is Devi provided the butterfly wings and mbak Tuti asked me to make it from edible image. I was thinking of stereoform to form the butterfly shape but mbak Tuti prefers using chocolate. So I tried to cover the edible image with chocolate and it becomes too heavy to be put on. I was kind of mad at myself but the no time anymore to make the new wings using stereoform.



I'd like to apologize to mbak Tuti that I have dissapointed them as the barbie cake turned becoming Mariposa without wings.



Anyway, thank you very much mbak Tuti for your loyal order and as usual, mbak Tuti is a vanilla butter cake lover so the base cake for Chacha's birthday all is deep yummy vanilla butter cake. As mbak Tuti doesn't really care about fondant, for the base cake I used butter cream icing instead.

Barbie Mariposa for Caca

Order from Devi, a wonderful mother that has really amazed me! hahahaha....I can tell that Devi and husband really loves Caca and always do everything to make her happy. I was so excited knowing that Devi was really well prepared for Caca's birthday party on Sunday. Since a few month ago Devi has already sent me a message that she would order a barbie cake for Caca and they chose Barbie Mariposa.



Devi even prepared the barbie doll by herself and it's the original one that cost the same as the cake! If I usually mutilated the doll to be put on the cake, this time I didn't have a guts to do it. The original barbie mariposa was too precious to be mutilated, so I just made a whole to stand the barbie mariposa. Decoration using full fondant and as requested everything should be major in pink with a little bit of purple and white. I added some yellow and green to make it more fascinating.



As Caca loves chocolate, so everything was chocolate. I made triple chocolate rich cake for the base cake and double chocolate cake for the barbie skirt. As usual for a safety delivery I never combine between the base cake and barbie cake. I asked Devi to do it by herself later on right before the party starts. It's a very easy thing to do and so far my customers could do it by themselves.



After the birthday party Devi sms me and said that everyone loves the cake. The chocolate cake was delicious and just perfect, matched with their taste. So glad to hear that.

Barbie Cake for Adinda

A Barbie doll cake for Adinda' 1st birthday ordered by Tiena Van Delft. Tiena and family is having 3 week holiday in Indonesia and as they are living near by my home in Cibubur they ordered this Barbie doll cake for Adinda.



All the cakes are strawberry cakes. For the base cake it's 20cm square of straberry sponge cake with strawberry jam filling then for the barbie skirt I used strawberry butter cake type.



Kind of fun decorating barbie cake, I always enjoy it.

Barbie Cake for Alya

The second cake is for Alya and mbak Eki requested for Barbie doll cake.



I made the one with the flowery theme, similar to the one I made for Nasya as it's a request from mbak Eki.

Princess Mulan (suppose to be...)

This was supposed to be Princess Mulan....but turned out to be Barbie Mulan :-))

Since the beginning of order, both Shierly and I really understood that it wouldn't be easy making Princess Mulan character as there was no barbie doll sold in Mulan's character, besides Mulan' skirt is different than other princess character.

I couldn't find any barbie doll with black hair nor the black brown one...got one with the black brown hair but it was original barbie doll with IDR 129,000 way to expensive to be put on the cake so I decided to use the regular barbie doll for the body and face.



When doing the skirt, my heart didn't allow me to cut down the cake skirt to the skinny type one....because if I cut too much then nothing left to eat. So I just cut down a little bit, hiks....sorry mbak Shierly...that's the main reason.

I hope Jessica won't be too dissapointed and thank you very much for trusting me.

Barbie Cake for Nadine

Received this order from Efi Andra. As Efi was busy with another order she asked me whether I would be available to help mbak Anna making birthday cake for Nadine.



The original design was Princess Ariel, but I told mbak Anna that I would be too busy to do princess Ariel. I even rejected and said not at the first time. But then Mbak Anna insisted and told me that she set me free for any kind of design.



Friday morning received a news that my causin, Dimas, passed away. I was busy the whole day for his funeral, got home around 7PM and already exhausted no more energy to do the decorating besides I was not in a good mood because of the lost.



I woke up the next morning, got my energy back and starting to decor the cake at 8AM. The whole cake was ready by 12:30PM, just right in time before the courier pick up the cake then delivered it to Melawai.



I decided to separate the cake into 2 pieces to avoid any accident during the delivery. Hope thru this picture you could imagine the whole birthday cake I made hehehe...



Glad when Anna told me that the birthday cake was a blast in the party. Thanks Anna!

Barbie Cake for Bianca

Another good lesson I have to learn when doing this cake. This cake order came from Cathy, Andrew & Bianca's Mom whom I met thru Sehat Mailing List. I know I didn't have much time to do it but as I wanted to help and hard to say NO then I said Yes.



Everything was okay until I forgot to put peaches slices in the filling, then my baking assistant forgetting to give the candle!! For peaches filling, Cathay said it's okay but not for the candle as it gave her and the whole family very bad headache! Seems like a very small thing but it's VERY IMPORTANT when you have a birthday party. A birthday party won't be the same when there was no candle!



I think an apology won't be enough and I don't know what to say anymore...



Catherine, Bianca...from the deepest of my heart, I do really really sorry...I will take all the consequences that may occur.

This morning I received messages from Cathy, saying that finally they could find the candle. Cathy even sent me the picture of the whole cake including the candle for the reference. Thank you God and Cathy!

Barbie Cake for Kriwil

This was the second order for the same day from Mbak Heni, Kriwil & Thole's mom :-)
If for Thole, Heni ordered a ball cake, for Kriwil, Heni ordered a barbie cake.

Heni didn't give me any color theme, cake flavour, etc...she just said...please make them delicious!!! This barbie dress made of chocolate butter cake with fondant decor. And for decoration again I used pink and flowery theme for Kriwil.




Talking about delicious, I think she was happy with the both cake I made for her precious kids.

Here was text message I received from Her yesterday :

"Enak Wi, nanti aku tulis di MP."

Pinky flowery barby doll birthday cake for Nasya

Mbak Diah, Averil's mom contacted me last week and asked me if I would be available to make barbie doll cake for her niece birthday.

The barbie doll should be in colorful pink and it has a base cake which is strawberry cake.



So here it is...I made 2 layer of strawberry sponge cakes with vanilla vla and strawberry paletta filling. Strawberry syrup and butter cream are also provitable for this cake. The barbie cake itself is chocolate butter cake.

There was an accident during the delivery from my home in Cibubur to my office in Pancoran area. As the barbie doll cake is pretty heavy and we got some bumpy road this morning, there was a damage! My heart was srunk looking at decoration damages. But then I managed to get all my decoration stuff delivered to my office this morning and I touched up the decoration at my office pantry.



I called my Diah and explained her everything. Glad she understood the situatiation. This afternoon the cake is on the way for delivery. I decided to divided the cake into 2 boxes. I told mbak Diah to put the barbie doll cake on the base cake by herself just right before the birthday party to avoid more damage.

Besided ordering the cake, actually mbak Dian also orderd 35 cups pudding devided into 3 flavours : chocolate orange, strawberry and almond lychee. I didn't take any picture of them.

Here was the text message I received from Mbak Diah that made me soo relieved :-)

"Mbak Dewi, Alhamdulillah semua lancar :-) Kuenya siy so pasti enak! :-) Tadi yang dipotong baru base cake-nya aja untuk temen2 dan guru TK. Barbie cake dibawa pulang untuk syukuran kecil dgn keluarga nanti sore. Thx a lot ya Mbak :-)

Barbie Cake for Rena's 3rd Birthday

Another Barbie doll cake for Rena, Sylvia's daughter. Rena birthday was one day before the Eidul Fitri and Sylvia was afraid if I wouldn't be able to help her to make the cake for Rena. Since a month before Sylvia contacted me to make sure that I would say yes to her.



Don't worry Sylvia, as we've been good friends for a few years and since I know that you willing to travel from Tangerang to my home at Cibubur to pick up the cake, so there was no reason for me to say no.

Here was the test message I received from Sylvia after the birthday :

"Dear Dewi, thanks a lot untuk barbie cake nya. Rena happy banget!
