Brownis kukus coklat dan keju untuk hantaran Lebaran

Lebaran tahun 2009 beneran merupakan tahunnya Brownis Kukus di Joris' Kitchen. Kalau tahun lalu berkah Idul Fitri datang dari chocolate fruity cake, tahun ini berhubung krisis turun ke brownis kukus hahahahaha...cuman jumlahnya nggak tanggung-tanggung...ditunggu aja ntar total jumlahnya dalam laporan Idul Fitri 2009 ya.

Semalem aku ngerjain 3 paket brownis kukus untuk Bank Mandiri Cab Kalibata. Nah, kebetulan banget, paket yang diminta ini sesuai dengan yang nantinya akan dipakai untuk bingkisan Lebaran 2009. Hanya saja bedanya, nanti di tengah kue aku kasih cetakan coklat berbentuk masjid atau greeting Selamat Idul Fitri.

Assorted pink and yellow cupcakes

Recently because of the hectic schedule in my kitchen, I often forgetting to take pictures of some orders. For example cupcakes, snack boxes, steamed brownies and macaroni schottel. For steamed brownies and macaroni schottel, it's okay, as I queit often receiving the order. But cupcakes with some figurines and snack boxes are actually quite important for my porto folio. Well....I guess I was too tired and had very limited time for taking picture....uhm...next time then.



These are cupcakes I made last night for Arief's daughter. Arief is my friend since we were in kindergarten. Thanks to facebook as finally after years we could meet again.

Arief, it's good to be in touch with you again. My best regards to Lia, your lovely wife and your cute daughters. I hope the girls like the cupcakes :-)

Spiced Passion Cake

I met Meilina thru Facebook and become good friends. Meilina who lives in NY is also the owner of www.kadonusantara.com and after some conversation thru email then I becoming one of her cake vendors.

Last summer Meilina visited Indonesia and finally we both met for the first time. Meilina gave a very precious gift, "Cakes & Cake Decorating, Step by Step" by Angela Nilsen, Sarah Maxwell & Janice Murfitt.

This book is awesome! I love the recipes they have, and since the first time I read this book I was in love with Spice Passion Cake as this cake is pretty unique. Last night I tried this cake...and love the result. This cake is moist, spiced sponge and when combining with the cheese, the taste is just perfect! I didn't have cream cheese last night so I substitute the topping using butter and castor sugar mix + cheddar cheese shreded.



Ingredients(serves 10)
1 medium carrot
1 medium courgette/zukini
3 large eggs (I used 4 medium size)
115gr / 4 oz/1/2 cup soft light brown sugar (I substitute with palm sugar)
30ml/2 tbs ground almonds
finely grated zest of 1 orange (I used lemon)
115gr/ 4 oz/1 cup self-raising wholemeal flour (I used 1 cup - 2 tbs all purpose flour + 1 tsp baking powder)
5ml/1 tsp ground cinnamon

For the topping
175gr/ 6 oz/1/4 cup low -fat soft cheese
5ml/1 tsp clear honey

My topping was:
1/4 cup butter
2 tbs castor sugar
cheddar cheese shreded as you wish

Directions1. Preheat the oven to 180 C/350 F/Gas 4. Line an 18cm/7 inch square tin with baking parchment. Coarsely grate the carrot and courgette/zukini.
2. Put the egg yolks, sugar, ground almonds, and orange/lemon zest into a bowl and whisk until very thick and light.
3. Shift the flour and cinnamon together and fold into the mixture with the grated vegetables. Add any bran left from the flour in the sieve.
4. Whisk the egg whites until stiff and carefully fold them in, half at a time. Spoon into the prepared tin. Bake in the oven for 1 hour, covering the top with foil after 40 minutes.
5. Leave to cool in the tin for about 5 minutes, then turn out on to a wire rack and carefully remove the lining paper.
6. For the topping, beat together the cheese and honey, and spread over the cake.

Birthday cake for Arrya

Order from mbak Nitya, my husband's colleague. Mbak Nitya order a triple chocolate cake with butter cream icing and hotwheels edible image.



Besides birthday cake, mbak Nitya also order 40 snack boxes, 2 pandan cheese steamed brownies and oatmeal cookies. I didn't take picture of the whole orders as I already have enough documentation for the other items.

Chocolate cake for Abigail 1st Holly Communion

Kak Ellen, a cyber friend who lives in UK visits Indonesia this summer. She ordered 3 chocolate cakes for her daugher, parents and niece. Making 3 cakes in one night was something. Thank you Kak Ellen, hope all your family enjoyed the cake.

Wedding cupcakes for Tabitha & Pontas

My first creation of wedding cupcakes for Tabitha and Pontas' wedding on August 15th.



I have never met Tabitha until her wedding day. Tabitha knows me from Jones, Jeffry's best friend and since then we communicated intensively thru YM, emails and some phone calls.



So glad that I could have done this!



As Tabitha and Pontas are batakneese they wanted to have batak' symbol on their wedding cake. Gorga house cake was chosen to the cake for the top of the tier. As I couldn't make it by myself, I have asked mbak Nina to help me to make it. It's amazing to know that Mbak Nina could make such a beautiful Gorga house cake for Tabitha and Pontas. Too bad there was an accident due to the humidity that made the Gorga house wasn't perfect anymore. Last minute before the wedding hour, I made another dummy cake for the top tier just in case the Gorga House couldn't stand with the high humidity of Jakarta.



There were 125 cupcakes in total in different 6 flavors: chocolate, vanilla, pandan, strawberry, mocha and lemon.



I decorated the cupcakes with butter cream and fondant.

Tumpeng Barbie

Dalam rangka menyambut hari raya kemerdekaan RI ke 64, RW 18 Taman Kenari Nusantara mengadakan lomba tumpeng.

Tahun ini mbak Yulia, Bu RT, minta aku turut serta masuk tim tumpeng. Dari ngobrol sana sini akhirnya disepakati kami membuat tumpeng barbie. Seru sekali menghias bareng-bareng seperti ini, banyak kepala, banyak suara dan banyak ide, awesome hehehehe...acara menghias tumpengnya sendiri mengambil tempat di teras rumahku.



Sayang nggak menang, tapi nggak papa...I had fun decorating tumpeng with my neighbours. Foto team tumpeng minus Mama Ryan yang pulang duluan...asli gue kucel banget nggak seehh.....blum mandi! huehehehehehe....

MERDEKA!!

Ariq's 3rd birthday

Mbak Nita, my neighbour ordered 3rd bithday cake for her handsome son, Ariq. There was no specific theme for Ariq birthday. Ariq's mom and grandma just wanted to have the cake full with toys...the more the merrier they said. So each toys here was suggested by them.



For the cake, I made 3 layer of chocolate sponge cake with chocolate cream and blueberry filling.

Black Forest Cake for mbak Ika's hubby

Mbak Ika wanted to give her husband a birthday suprise. As her husband loves black forest cake, so classic black forest was chosen.



Besides the black forest cake, mbak Ika also ordered 6 cuppies for Icha, her lovely daughter.

Princess Birthday Cakes for the twins

It's mbak Rahma in Pekanbaru who ordered 2 birthday cakes for the beautiful twins of mbak Asri in Cibinong, Irene and Irine.

Princess theme was chosen for the 3rd birthday cakes of Irene and Irine.

Irene loves chocolate and pink.....



So I made her triple chocolate cake.



And Irine loves strawberry and blue...



So I made her triple vanilla cake with strawberry cream filling.



Thank you very much mbak Rahma for your order...mbak Asri...also thank you very much for your nice compliment...Mbak Asri said that the birthday cakes were beautiful and yummy...the twins loved them so much and didn't want to have them cut :-)

Music theme cupcakes

Next order from Eini, Kezia's mom for today is 16 cupcakes with music theme decoration. Eini wants each cupcake is decorated colorful with music ornament figurine. It's only 16 cupcakes but really took 4 hours for me to make the figurines!

While making the figurines I watched the DVD of my idol, David Foster, in his special concert of David Foster and Friends. 4 hours with in the early morning with full of music spirit arounded me :-)

I know that what I've done is not the best yet but at least my Jonathan could tell what it was this morning, hahahahaha....so here they are:

Kezia's 4th Birthday Cupcakes

Kezia's Mom, Eini also ordered bunch of cupcakes. Eini came out with different kind design but all in vanilla flavour.

Kezia's 4th Birthday Cake

It's been 3 years Ari and Eini becoming my loyal customer. Since their cute daughter's 2nd birthday they always ordered the birthday cake and cupcakes from Joris' Kitchen. Last Tuesday was Kezia's 4th Birthday. For her birthday this year, Kezia chose Barbie Dancing's Theme for her birthday cake.

I cam out with idea of using standing edible image but unfortunately it was difficult to find the right pictures of the 12 princess in the internet. So I asked Zakie, the edible maker, whether we could grab some pictures from the movie and Zakie said yes, yippie!



When my daughter, Ruth, saw this cake she said: I wanna the same thing for my birthday, Mama!! hahahahaha...just like Ruth, I love barbie princess series, as usually they have great music theme for each movie. The best music theme according to my own judgement is Princess and Pauper and Barbie Princess 12 Dancing is in the second place :-)

I am glad that Kezia loves her birthday cake soo much! I made her 22cm square of triple chocolate rich cake as the base cake. Thank you dek Eini and Ari for your trust. Love you always dear cutie Kezia, God bless you all!
