So happy to finally meeting mbak Ana Lumintang, Nadine's mom and the whole family. Mbak Ana becoming Joris' Kitchen's customer since last year. She ordered barbie doll cake for Nadine's 5th birthday. This year, to celebrate Nadine's 6th Birthday, Mbak Ana ordered cupcakes on tier with barbie doll cake on the top.

There was a cute story behind the barbie doll cake. Mbak Ana challenged me to find a barbie doll with black hair to represent cutie Nadine that has long black beautiful hair. Secondly, the barbie doll cake should be in Nadine's future elementary school uniform. That's okay to have blown skirt like princess gown as long as the skirt color is blue, Nadine's future elementary' school uniform, said mbak Ana. So here it is!...Princess Nadine in her future elementary school's uniform :-)

I made 100 chocolate cupcakes and a few more as bonus to be put on the tier. Decorated with butter cream and Nadine's edible image pictures. Too bad forgot to take picture of each individual cupcake before I packed them in mika.

The party was held in KFC Kemang. I took my kids there to accompanied me preparing the cupcakes on the tier. They had chance to play in the play ground while I am working and had some KFC stuff, they were so happy. And when finally we met Nadine and family, Nadine invited Ruth and Jonathan to join the party. The party was a blast, my kids loved to be part of it.

Tom & Jerry for Alifa's 6th Birthday

After ordered some goodie bags and birthday cake in November last year, this time mbak Ardin re-ordered the birthday cake for her lovely daughter birthday, Alifa.

The theme is Tom & Jerry and mbak Ardin gave me the sample of birthday cake with the same theme from the internet. Simple...yes very simple one. It was a very quick decorating to do, only took me a hour to finish everything and I even wanted to add some more things but just couldn't figure out what else to put on the cake.

I finally decided to put some gumpaste flowers and plastic grass for the cake on the top and in front of the cake. Kind of like this cake though, simple but nice.

The basic cake is 30cm square vanilla sponge cake with buttercream blueberry flavour. Decoration using vanilla buttercream and edible icing.

Najthami & Diaz's Birthday Cake - Hotwheels

Order from my lovely neighbour accrossed the street, mbak Henny, for her sons' birthday.

Najthami and Diaz, born in the same month, in April, which birthdates close to each other. So their parents decided to celebrate their birthday together last Sunday. As Najthami, the elder ones, loves Hotwheels so much, they picked up Hotwheels theme as their birthday's cake theme. It's so difficult to find some one who could help me with the race track. Thanks to mbak Ina Larizz who helped with with race trace edible icing.

It's 30x30cm chocolate double cake with butter cream icing. Just love the color combination. The picture above was before I took the cake to mbak Henny's house. As usual mbak Henny always like to have almost everything on the cake. Kind of a bit go to the wrong theme and mixed them up but as long as they happy I would happy too :-)

When Lia came to me and talked about "Bolu Biasa" aka "simple cake" not decorated ones, I was confused and didn't know what I was going to do with the cake. For me naked cake will look so poor in my eyes, I won't be able to stand and not decorate them, hahahahaha...but customer is a king!

So here it is....I came up with 2 layer of vanilla sponge cake with blueberry jam filling. And to make it more tasty I put some shredded cheddar cheese on the top of other layer before baking them in the oven. And guess what??...Lia and family just love this cake, this was actually the second order from her, previously she ordered 3 cakes.

Another order from Lia, Kyla's mom. Lia was thinking about preparing some snacks for Ruth and Kyla's ensamble group and she asked my favor to do it for her. From my observation, these kids would just eat anything hehehehe...so I prepared something simple, quick but yummy still for them as I had very limited time.

Glad to know that the kids love the cake and butter cream hehehehe.....those sweet teeth just couldn't stop muching on them :-)

I made this carrot for breakfast meeting in my office. Some people have made a noise about tasting my carrot cake so I gave them my speciality to taste.

This was the carrot cake before I cut them into slices and served them, just very simple one. With cream cheese frosting and put some more shredded cheddar cheese around the cake. Yaayy....I got so many tumbs up on that day hahahaha...they just loved my carrot cake and even the Senior VP from our company has asked for special order. She would take my carrot cake to Singapore, hand carry! wow!!...it's really my priviledge :-)

My boss said, we're gonna pay your carrot cake, can't be for free as it's just way delicious. Yayyy..thank you boss!

Wedding Cupcakes for Indy & Ferry

Order from Lynda, a dearest online friend from the Netherlands. This wedding cupcakes was dedicated for her beloved niece, Indy on her wedding day!

I was very excited doing another wedding cupcakes project and promised to myself to always give my best for the couple. Indy and Ferry were very cooperative, they just trust everything would be okay in my hands.

Linda was the one who picked the theme for the wedding cupcakes. She prefers to have pink and blue theme, but then later on there was a problem as the interior decor reception theme was maroon and gold. Tried to think to match the wedding cupcakes theme with decor and finally got an idea to use my gold cupcakes liners, yes that would do good!

I am so happy doing this project, all my love to Indy and Ferry poured thru my cupcakes. I made 80 cupcakes which were devided into 2 flavours, vanilla mint and chocolate. Decorated them with butter cream and simple gumpaste flowers. I gave more touch up on the tiers with baby pink lace around the tiers and some fresh flowers. The cake on the top of tiers was lapis surabaya diameter 20cm with full fondant decoration and some fresh flowers.

Very happy with the result and glad that the newly weds and their families were also very happy and satisfied with the wedding cupcakes.

Cake Hantaran Wedding

Utang postingan bejibun...baru sempet edit 2 yang lain masih ngendon di card dan belum ada energy untuk transfer hihihihihihi....

Hasil kerja 3 minggu yang lalu....Minggu yang super sibuk dan sangat melelahkan....tapi bersyukur masih diberikan kesehatan dan kekuatan sehingga dapat menyelesaikan semua pesanan dengan baik. Dalam 1 akhir pekan ada pesanan 28 pak kue hantaran pernikahan, wedding cupcakes dan snack box sebanyak 125 boxes. Juggling around nggak karuan tapi akhirnya semua dapat selesai tepat waktu.

Ini adalah cake hantaran pernikahan pesanan Lia, mamanya Kyla, temen satu kelas Ruth. Tadinya cuman mau pesan 15 pcs tapi terus nambah jadi 28. Cakenya ukuran 15cm yang dihias dengan edible image dan butter cream. Nggak sanggup ngerjain cakenya sendiri, aku minta tolong Pak Sahak dan Puji Tuhan, Pak Sahak bersedia membantu....senangnya.

Menghias 28 cake dapat aku selesaikan dalam waktu semalam. Petang hari usai istirahat sejenak dari urusan snack box dan wedding cupcakes aku segera menyicil pekerjaan ini. Suamiku baik sekali, dia bawa anak-anak keluar untuk jalan-jalan supaya nggak ganggu mamanya sampai jam 9 malam. Dan dari mulai jam 18:30 - 21:00 aku berhasil menyelesaikan 13 cakes. Uuuggghhh masih 15 lagi....tapi tidur dulu.....terbangun pukul 23:30 segera aku kerja lagi. Kali ini tanpa ditemani TV supaya pekerjaannya lebih fokus. Dan Puji Tuhan, tepat pukul 3 dini hari semua sudah selesai. Aaahhh leganya...senangnya.....

Dinosaurus theme for Naila

I was contacted by mbak Yessy a few days before Naila's birthday. Mbak Yessy told me that her daughter would like to have dinosaurus theme for her 5th birthday. As my kids not really into dinosaurus, I need to asked for some references from Shopia, my colleague whose daugher loves dinosaurus very much.

Finally I could find the mini dianosaurus figurines. Together with Ruth and Jonathan, we went to the toy shop in Cibubur to get this figurines as the one that I saw in Tebet was already sold out in the evening I went there after office hour, hiks. Decorating idea got it from Mbak Peni's blog.

The delivery time was another story. As it was raining very hard all afternoon, the courier had to postpone the delivery until 6:30PM and it was really surprisingly that the cake arrived in Serpong almost middle of the night *pyyuufffffff*

Ana chose the number one cake. It's double chocolate cake with basic cake one layer of chocolate butter cake. Decorating using butter cream for as the family don't like fondant, but I put some fondat decorating to make the cake nicer and they were okay with it.

I ejoyed decorating this kind of girly cake even though not really that girly as Alea's mother didn't want to have any kind of flower on the cake.

Thank you dear Lord, finally You have answered my prayer! I have been wanting to receive Wedding Cake order since years ago because Wedding Cake is something different. It takes all about different skill and technic. So when I got a phone call from Ibu Yola, Yorri's aunt about wedding cake order I was so excited and nothing else to say than YES!

3 layers of cake with pink and blue theme. The first layer in the bottom was dummy cake, second and top layer were Lapis Surabaya Cake with fondant/plastic icing topping with some gumpaste flowers and fresh flowers.

I was so excited and full of energy doing my first wedding cake. Very happy to know that every one loved the cake. Thank you, thank you so much for my husband, kids and best friends who gave me full support in doing it. Can't thank enough to all of you. I love you all.

I hope after this, there will be more wedding cake order as I need to practice more and be more creative :-)

Also miss spelled on her son's name. Should be AL not Alya :-( It's all because no final confirmation made by email and I was about chasing the deadline so I ordered the printing without final approval from mbak Etna.

So this is also a reminder for all my customers that all orders given to Joris' Kitchen must be written by email. Even though you have texted me your order, I would be more than happy if you could reconfirm your order by email to avoid all miss understanding.

Still order from overseas. The message from the daughter to her mother was really touching my heart...how the daughter feel was really written in her message.

As the weather was not too good, I decided to call the mother before ADA courier left my home to delivery the cake. I just want to let her know that there might be a delay as the weather wasn't nice, etc. I could feel the happy feeling but also the deep missing feeling from the mother to her daughter when talking to her. Oh dear...today I just feel so blessed that God has made me to be a love bridge among loving and caring people thru my cakes.

Tiramisu Mother's Day

22 December is Mother's Day in Indonesia. I am glad that my cakes have become a love bridge between children and mothers.

An overseas order came to me 2 weeks before the Mother's Day. The daughter sent this tiramisu cake for her lovely mother in Tangerang. When I wrote the personal message from the daughter for her mother in the card that I provided, I was on tears....the message was so beautiful. I could understand how they are feeling right now. Being thousand miles apart is not easy.

This morning Jakarta and suburb was raining very hard but my courier partner commited very well with their service. They kept going to deliver the cake and it took almost 4 hours from Cibubur to Tangerang to delivery this tiramisu as the Tangerang area was flooding.

I talked to the mother who received the cake this afternoon on the phone. She was really appreciated the courier effort. Salluuutttt to ADA Courier Team!!!! The mother said she's happy to receive the cake from the daughter as they haven't met each other for such a long time. Suddenly....I miss my mom too....

This was the second birthday cake I made for Benedicta's 1st Birthday. It was sent a week later after the first cake.

The second cake was same size as the first one. It's 40 x 40cm square double chocolate cake. And the second party was also held at the Orphanage's home, ofcourse the different orphanage's home from the first one.

The testimony from Benedicta's mom was very relieved. They satisfied with the cake, they said it's yummy and very chocolaty!

I got the recipe from Oprah.com, it's originally recipe from sprinkles cupcakes. I modified a bit the recipe and it turned out just perfect! The mixed flavour between mint and vanilla just delicious and perfect for Christmas season. I made bunch of them as part of christmas goodie bag for the orphanage children plus made some more to enjoy by myself and family :-)

I made mint flavour for the butter cream frosting and decorated it with Christmas edible images. Looks so fascinating!

This was my first time to make a special mocca taart. I made this for JJ's birthday to share with his colleagues at work.

I just love the cake texture and mocca smell, very yummy...and thinking of to make another batch this weekend.

I am happy to share the recipe here, but it's in bahasa Indonesia, sorry....please email me at joriskitchen@gmail.com if you need a translation in English.

Mocca Taart ala Joris' Kitchen
(resep cake untuk 1 loyang ukuran kotak 30 x 30 x 4cm. Untuk 2 susun bikin resep cakenya 2 kali ya....)

Bahan untuk cake:
8 butir telur utuh ukuran medium
4 butir kuning telur ukuran medium
250 gr gula pasir halus
140 gr terigu serba guna
60 gr maizena
1 sdt baking powder
1 sdm emulsifier
190 gr mentega cair (best result pake full mentega/butter ya supaya cakenya lebih tasty dan tekstur lembut)
1 sdm mocca pasta (aku pake t*****o)
air kopi yang terbuat dari 1 sdt kopi instant (aku pake n****e) dicairkan dengan 2 sdm air hangat

Cara:
1. Alasi loyang kotak 30 x 30 x 4cm dengan kertas roti dan semir kertas dengan margarin secara merata, sisi loyang aku biarkan tanpa polesan margarin.
2. Larutkan kopi instant dengan air hangat, sisihkan, biarkan dingin
3. Panaskan oven dengan suhu 180 der
4. Ayak terigu + maizena + baking powder, sisihkan
5. Kocok gula pasir, telur, air kopi dan emulsifier sampai kental berjejak dengan kecepatan tinggi
6. Masukkan campuran terigu dengan kecepatan rendah (speed 1) sampai asal tercampur, matikan mixer, lanjutkan dengan aduk merata dengan spatula.
7. Masukkan campuran mentega cair + pasta mocca ke dalam adonan, aduk balik sampai benar-benar tercampur rata
8. Tuang adonan kedalam loyang dan panggan hingga matang kira-kira 30 menit klo pake otangku hehehehe...

*) Aku bikin 2 resep untuk 2 tumpuk.
**) Adonan dituang 2/3 tinggi loyang...kalau ada sisa adonan masukin aja ke cup atau loyang kecil yang lain itung-itung bonus hehehehe...karena memang banyaknya adonan tergantung pada ukuran telur. Kalau telurnya besar-besar biasanya aku kurangi telur utuhnya jadi 6 butir saja.

Bahan untuk krim mocca dan garnish:
- 1300ml dairy whipped cream (aku pake r**h)
- 5 sdm mocca pasta (aku pake t*******o)
- 200 gr almond cincang dipanggang

Cara:
- whipped cream + mocca pasta dikocok sampai mengembang dan kental

Simple sirup mocca:Larut dan didihkan 100gr gula pasir + 300ml air, dinginkan. Tambahkan 1 sdt pasta mocca, simple sirup siap digunakan.

Finishing:
1. Ambil 1 lembar cake, basahi dengan sirup.
2. Tambahkan krim filling mocca secara penuh, taburi dengan 100gr almond cincang panggang tutu lagi dengan krim mocca
3. Tumpuk lagi dengan 1 lembar cake yang lain, basahi dengan sirup
4. Hias sesuai selera (aku hias minimalis aja pake tambahan cherry merah dipotong-potong - karena ntar juga dipotongin kata swami hahahaha.....)

Tape singkong or fermented cassava is one of Indonesian traditional snack. We enjoy the tape just like that or make it for a cake or cupcake or you can also put them in your es campur, yummy!

I always love tape singkong cake. After trying some recipes, I am in love with Sari's recipe. The textur comes out spongi, moist and the tape's flavour is strong. Absolutely perfecto! As it was part of snack box order, I put the batter into cup liners and garnish the cupcake with some almond slices.

Ruth's 6th Birthday

My princess celebrated her birthday this month. Since a few months ago she already told me that she wanted to have a birthday cake with barbie dancing theme. She came up with this idea when she saw me making barbie dancing theme for Kezia's birthday. Since then, she always wanted the same theme. Ruth likes edible image, therefor I decided to use edible image for all princess barbie dancing figures.

This year, no chocolate cake, Ruth said. She is in love with vanilla and blueberry filling since she helped me out making vanilla fruity cake where I used vanilla sponge cake for the base and blueberry and vanilla vla for the filling. She's absolutely wanted the same thing.

For cupcakes the base cake was also vanilla. I suppose to put blueberry filling but just totally forgot doing it. Anyway....Ruth loves the pinky cuppies :-)

We didn't have a big celebration on her birthday as very typical of my daughter, she loves simple stuff. She was most happy accompanied by the grands, parents and her little brother when we had small and simple celebration for her.

Besides the cupcakes I also made some yellow rice and its condiments, and pudding in cup for the goodie bag and shared the goodie bags to our neighbors.

Happy birthday my lovely daughter, our love and pray always with you....God bless you dearly, my love!

Many people love black forest! I remember when I was child I was told that the best chocolate cake ever was black forest hehehe....so no wonder if this cake is last forever :-)

More order on black forest coming to my kitchen from some one who is in deeply in love. I gave some pinky & white touch to the cake to show how really in love is my customer to her :-)

Continuing the fancy cookies order, Ito, Justin's mom also ordered birthday cake for Justin's 3rd birthday with Hotwheels' theme.

It's a 20cm square orange cake with butter cream and edible image. Too bad I totally forgot to take picture of the cake when the cake was still out of the box. I was busy thinking of making a special box for a tall cake and when the cake was already inside, uuppsss....no way to take it out from the box. So I just shot the cake from the bottom and I kind of mad of myself as I couldn't get the right angle.

Received text message from Ito today saying that they were happy with the cake. Thank you Ito and Kris, our love to your lovely boy!

Fancy cookies with icing sugar

It has been a while since I made fancy cookies. One thing that I always enjoy making fancy cookie is I get my kids having fun with me in decorating them with icing sugar.

Ito, Justin's mom ordered some fancy cookies with icing sugar for Justin's 3rd birthday. As I have more batch, I asked Ruth and Jonathan joining me in cutting the dough and decorated them. It was just a lovely time and we will absolutely do it again for Ruth's birthday next week!
